University of Staffordshire announced plans to launch the UK’s first eSports degree

Staffordshire University has announced plans to launch the UK’s first eSports degree, looking at the business and cultural of aspects of professional gaming.

The new course, which is set to begin in September 2018, is part of the University’s new video game initiative which will also the expansion of its gaming facilities at its Stoke-on-Trent campus.

Rachel Gowers, Academic Dean for Recruitment in the Business School from the University of Staffordshire said: "Over 73 per cent of those employed within -esports are under the age of 35 and their skills are in demand. Companies are looking for people who are entrepreneurial and tech savvy and the industry is driving the creation of new jobs.”

Leudjou Koyemen Joel, the Cameroonian cook who stabbed his boss, Dayo Adeleke, to death on December 20, 2016, has been sentenced to death by a Lagos High Court sitting in Igbosere.

Joel stabbed Adeleke in the neck and heart because she allegedly refused to give him a two-week salary advance which he requested for earlier that morning.

The refugee from Cameroon was being rehabilitated in a church in Lagos, when Adeleke employed him on compassionate grounds, following a request by the pastor of her church.

However, she was murdered, seven months after employing him and two months to her wedding in February, 2017, having been engaged 3 months earlier.
